Life as a Waiting Family

It sounds exciting, right? Any day we could get a call that we have a match!

Except, if I’m being honest, it’s not exciting. It’s boring, and frankly—a little disheartening. We have been an official waiting family for 6 months and yet – nothing. Not one call. Not one potential match.

When we decided to adopt we knew it wasn’t going to be glamorous or quick. But I think we thought it might be… more interesting. We thought maybe we would have our book shown a few times, be turned down a few times, then everything would fall magically into place. And maybe that will be how it goes. Just not in the timing we thought.

This time last year we looked at each other and said, “this might be our last Christmas without a baby!”. It’s looking like we may have a few more Christmas with just us and the animals. (I don’t hear Miso complaining).

We know, without a shadow of doubt, that we will have a little one. We know that God’s timing is way better than our timing. We just continue to pray, and we ask that you add us to your prayers this holiday season as well. Pray that God continues to prepare us to be the best parents we can be. Pray for our future little one’s birth mother. Pray she feels the peace of knowing her baby will be in a loving home.
